MLB Live TV Subscription: Picking the Plan That Actually Fits
An MLB live TV subscription comes down to one question: do you follow a single team, or do you want every out-of-market game each night? MLB.TV is the cheap answer for the second case — about $150 a year or $30 a month — and since 2024 it streams in-market games for most clubs too, killing the old blackout gripe for a lot of fans. National exclusives (ESPN Sunday Night, Apple TV Friday, postseason) still block it, so plan for a supplement there.
If one bill should cover everything, live-TV streamers carry the regional sports network your local team airs on. DirecTV Stream and Fubo hold the most RSNs, YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV carry some, Sling TV skips most — confirm your RSN before you commit, because that is the line item people actually cancel over. The catch with any of them is the on-demand side, which most subscribers underrate until they miss a game; I wrote up why that backlog matters more than the live count at https://telegra.ph/The-On-Demand-Library-Is-the-Part-You-Underrate-07-09.
Short version: out-of-market fan, cheap means MLB.TV. Local team, want other channels means a live-TV bundle with your RSN. Anything promising every game for ten bucks is a piracy app with a subscription UI, and those die mid-season.
After trying a few, the one I stayed with was a reliable IPTV service.
